Week#6 Discussion Topics

Hello, everyone. This week I would love to talk about 'being an interpreter' in the class. When I happened to find related articles on Korea Herald, I thought the topic was totally relevent to us as being an interpreter is why we spend time and energy in the course. So, I am assuming you would enjoy the topic.(p.s I will print out the material for all people!)

1. Did your thoughts on being an interpreter ever change before and after the GSIT course? How it changed?

2. Even though we are not professionals just yet, but what do you think are the challenging parts in interpreting? At the same time, what would be 'the beauty of interpreting' to you?(ex: Feeling of achievement, opportunities to obatain a vareity of knowledge, etc.)

3. What do you think are required to be an interpreter of any government official including the President, ministers. Are they different from general interpreters? What do you think they should take a extra caution whey they do their job?

4. Would you want to work as an in-house interpreter or a freelance one? What are pros and cons of each position?

5. Are there any misunderstanding that you used to have about an interpreter?
